Right off the back of Victory in Monza 4 weeks ago, the Tempesta Racing trio of Chris Froggatt, Jonathan Hui & Chris Buncombe demonstrated a competitive race on Sunday for the Team’s ‘home’ race at Silverstone, but late race drama lead to just missing out on another podium finish.

Chris Buncombe took the start of the 3 Hour enduro from 4th position on the grid.  He made a great get away finding a way past the 3 Pro-Am cars ahead and to take the lead in class by the end of the first half lap.  A huge accident on the exit of the Becketts complex involving 6 cars brought out an early Safety Car period.  The race resumed after 20 minutes and Chris held a lead gap over the chasing second placed Aston Martin before pitting to hand over the #93 Ferrari 488 to Jonathan Hui.

Frustratingly, the Team were caught out a little by another Safety Car period right after the first round of pit stops which lost some of the gap to the chasing pack.  Jonathan continued to show excellent pace despite this being his first time racing at Silverstone and kept the Pro Am lead throughout his stint.

Chris Froggatt took to the wheel with one hour remaining, the car still leading but a hard chasing pack of 3 cars headed by Tom Onslow-Cole’s Mercedes, Factory Ferrari star Andrea Bertolini & Charlie Eastwood in the Aston Martin.  Chris immediately stunned with some superb fast opening laps actually extending the Class lead a little further.

With 30 minutes of the race remaining the gap had closed with Chris unfortunately suffering with a trapped nerve consequently reduced ability to keep up his impressive pace.  Chris pushed on and brought the car home in 4th place scoring more crucial points for the Championship campaign.

The Team now leave Silverstone as Championship Leaders in Pro-Am and head to Round 3 of the Championship in Paul Ricard in 3 weeks.
