Unlike most of today’s racers, Chris Froggatt’s place on the grid in topflight GT racing has not been achieved through years of karting and single seater racing. Instead, sharing the SKY Tempesta Racing Ferrari with drivers Eddie Cheever III and Jonathan Hui battling for podiums at Europe’s most formidable tracks, has been achieved in just four short years.

A childhood love of cars, riding quad bikes and motocross from a young age all fuelled his fascination with speed, and his unfashionably late arrival on the car racing scene at 24 years of age. But it was an exploratory Ferrari high performance driving event at the Ferrari test track at Fiorano, Italy as a guest of a close friend, that proved to be the turning point for Chris and his journey to the starting grid of international motor racing.

Track driving can be extremely addictive, and it only took a few more high-speed track days back in the UK to fully expose Chris’s competitive streak. Inspired and enthused by his track day experiences and sensing improvements in skill levels and lap times he now sought competition – the need to see results.

Inevitably, Chris embarked upon a season of racing in the 2017 European Ferrari Challenge. His first season endeavours resulting in a highly creditable third place before going on to win the 2018 championship by an impressive 130 points.

The lack of experience in the junior formulae has never been a barrier to Chris’s ambitions and so in 2019 he stepped up to the GT3 category, finishing the season in 3rd in the GT Endurance Cup. In 2020, driving alongside Eddie Cheever III and Jonathan Hui the partnership has already achieved the overall teams GT World Challenge Europe championship, once again highlighting just how quickly Chris has developed into a driver capable of competing at the highest levels of both sprint and endurance racing.

In founding SKY Tempesta Racing, and building symbiotic relationships with both Eddie Cheever, and Jonathan Hui, Chris has created a team where skills, racecraft, and knowledge can be fully developed, individual potentials optimised, and ambitions realised.
